慢聽 the King's Singers

昨天落LK前到HMV打一轉。試聽 CD "Very Best of the King's Singers". 第一首歌 "I'm Yours" 去了一半, 小哲己經閉上眼神不守舍. 付了款, 手中一直緊緊抓着CD直到Stormy.

It's a cappella. Acapella 小哲聽過一些. 各美國大學的 Acappella group 都愛聽. 還有香港的M33.他們都很出色. (esp M33 - I'm so proud of them!)

但 King's Singers 是不同的.

他們用的是較Classical 的 old school 唱腔, 是小哲最愛的. 旦是全男聲. 也是小哲偏愛的音域. Bristish ascent. 每句都易聽.

但更重要的, is the way they deliver. If I have to describe it in one sentence, I would say, "They've made themselves invisible inside the music."

小哲算是個很picky 又"懶"醒的人. 喜歡挑剔表演者的技巧. "懶"Critical. 但聽他們的Music, from the very first bar, 小哲腦中全忘了"表演者"的存在. 在HMV 人來人往的環境中, 只聽到一股情感用音樂 (是音樂, 不是歌聲) 在訴說 I'm Yours 裡面的心切表白. 閉上眼, 小哲就在另一個空間. 在那裡沒有 instrument, 沒有 vocal. 有的是一個Story, 一份心聲. This is what I meant by "invisible".

就是這樣的音樂叫人感動. 沒有自己, 沒有賣弄. 教會的詩班, 就是以此為目標吧.

今天早上小哲 puts on the critical hat 再聽King's Singers 的技巧. 他們的音準、節奏、強弱聲完全一絲不苟. 沒有 show off. 突然醒覺, 他們能感動人, 是因為那專業高超的技巧, 一絲不苟的演繹, 和對音樂純全的動機. Technique is the basis.

回想自己一直彈不好Bach, 突然明白: 必先有技巧, 才可以忘記技巧.

決定又Scale練起.
